I started college as biology major as I wanted to be a pediatrician, but I was enjoying my economics and finance classes so much that I changed my major. What advice do you have for emerging leaders in banking? No matter what role you want to have in the industry, take the time to get a good solid background in credit. Under- standing the basics of credit will always serve you well in this business. And, find a good mentor. I view everything I do around people, process and per- formance. It’s getting my team to outperform their own expectations and raising the performance across the entire network. I work to create a consistent process-driven sales culture that puts the client at the center, but gets the employees motivated to grow the business. Finally, it’s all about growing market share and revenue. I’m very excited about an innovative mobile banking feature we introduced in March called Mobile Cash. It lets you access cash using your smartphone from BMO Harris ATMs using your BMO Harris Mobile app instead of having to pull out your debit card. No PIN and no card required. It’s not often that banks introduce a product or service that is both more secure and more convenient. We’re the first bank in Arizona to offer this technology. w n Steve Zandpour — continued from page 5 6 www.azbankers.org
