26 www.azbankers.org P HOENIX, ARIZ. – MORE THAN 1,000 CHASE EMPLOYEES FANNED OUT TO THE EAST AND WEST VALLEY ON SATURDAY TO HELP REVITALIZE TWO SCHOOLS WITH PROJECTS SUCH AS LANDSCAPING, FIELD MAINTENANCE, AND TOUCH-UP PAINTING TO HELP BEAUTIFY THE CAMPUSES. VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED MORE THAN $60,000 IN LABOR. “Thank you for supporting our schools,” said Robert Meldau, principal of the Eisenhower Center for Innovation School in Mesa, which had more than 500 volunteers on the campus. “What may seem like a small act to you – being here on a Saturday morning, getting up early – can have dramatic consequences, and so I want to thank you for that.” Mesa Mayor John Giles, who helped kick off the Mesa school effort, said “Mesa is a great collection of people that need help and people who are anxious to give help. We’re not only grateful for the volun- teers here from Chase, but I’m grateful to the faculty and staff.” Chase partnered with several organizations to identify the schools’ needs and provide labor and supplies. Chase donated donating $30,000 in supplies and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation contributed $10,000 in supplies plus one game ticket to each volun- teer. Chase also partnered with Teach for America, the Maryvale Revitalization Corp., Rebuilding Together Valley of the Sun, Salva- tion Army and Community Impact for assistance with the projects. “Chase employees have a strong culture of volunteerism and want to help the communities where they live and work,” said Noreen Bishop, Arizona Region Manager for the J.P. Morgan Private Bank. “With our community partners, we’re excited to work with these schools and help create a better learning environment for our schoolchildren.” Activities occurred at these two schools: EAST VALLEY Eisenhower Center for Innovation, 848 N. Mesa Drive, Mesa (Mesa Public Schools) WEST VALLEY Pueblo Del Sol Elementary School, 3449 N. 39th Ave., Phoenix (Isaac School District) Chase also held a community fair at each school for local children and families. The Grand Canyon University Street Team, Phoenix Police Department and other organizations provided music, demon- strations, an inflatable obstacle course, train rides and snow cones. “Pueblo del Sol is excited to partner with Chase for a day of beauti- fication and volunteering!” said Assistant Principal James Arndt. “It is important for students to have a safe and scholarly environment and this weekend Chase bank is helping us to create this environ- ment on the Pueblo del Sol campus.
